The Suzani Bomber Jacket | Dark

The Bomber Jacket of dreams. A classic bomber silhouette that is snug and offers absolute insulation and warmth against the coldest of climates. Trimmed with a feminine frill across the front and back, the centre front features an extra width plaquard with Lichen & Leaf handmade and painted clay buttons which are looped in with an elastic cord for a bit of added ease. The cuffs and waist are elasticated and it has jet pockets at the sides.

The outer part of the jacket is 100% Cotton Suzani Cloth, the jacket is fully lined with an insulating batting made from our (and other) 100% recycled post consumer waste (fabric off cuts) and the inside offers a 100% Cotton fleece lining for coziness to touch. Note that the insulating lining properties of this Jacket offer considerable warmth suitable for the coldest of winter temperatures.

SUZANI

Historically, these intricately embroidered textiles originate from Central Asia and were hand stitched by nomadic tribes in Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan. They were used practically for warmth and shelter but their intricate design and mesmerizing beauty gained them more heroic stature and they were presented to grooms as a handmade gift from their bride.

The Suzani's that we are working with are made in the Rajasthan region of India from 100% cotton which is naturally dyed. The collaboration with the community in Rajasthan celebrates and supports their skills and their livelihoods. 

100% RECYCLED POST CONSUMER WASTE & CLOSING THE LOOP

Closing the loop on our production process is one that keeps us endlessly motivated. Limiting the negative impact we have on our planet is critically important to us. We have been researching, exploring, experimenting, learning and have finally landed - on a closed loop system.

If we want fashion to be truly sustainable, we need to consider more than just the materials or the processes we use, we need to consider the waste, the bi-products, the distribution and so much more. The majority of our garment off-cut waste we upcycle but after using up what we can to create our Upcycled ranged, we are still left with smaller bits of waste. It's the use of these 'scraps' which we have collaborated with a local post consumer recycling company to recycle into the insulating inner for our Suzani Collection and in turn, meaning that we have a zero waste production process.
